I say go for it. If it is too noisy or you have an early failure then you didn't lose too much
That's what I don't want.............failures.

I want to put it together and be done with it.............until I tear it apart again

Hey Steve, sounds like you got way too many parts just sitting onthe workbench waiting for install.

Wont that stuff rust up there in the Maine winter?[:'(] Put it in so it can get engine oil!

Too damn cold right now to do anything.

Never got above 10* yesterday, and last night it was -8*.

Supposed to get a warm-up next week.............but I'm still waiting on the gaskets, lifters, and baisley spring.

Then I still have to remove the heads and send them out too. Good thing I have another 3 months of winter, gives me plenty of time to work on the bike with no hurry to put it back together.

you guys up there are lucky, you have a predetermined time to do major work on your bikes, down here in the south we have to pick a time when we dontwant to be able to ride to do anything more than plugs and tires [sm=escape.gif]

Yeah but it gets expensive doing motor work every winter.................LOL

I would rather have year-round riding over 5 months of hell.

I know what you mean I need to do the cam chain tensioners/ new gear drive cams but am a little afraid to dive in. since I dont ride with a group if I get to a point of no return no one to call to help. my local indy will do it but he bill comes to around 1400.00 with new cams or around 500.00 just to replace the shoes

I swapped out my gear driven cams last Feb. in 4 hours.............removed the Andrews 26G's and installed the HQ-0034G's. To change out the tensioners is a very easy job too..........probably about $50 in parts and about 3 hours labor.

Baisley spring is here, and the Lifters arrived today from Gaterman Products. Now it's just the Cometic top-end gasket kit left to order, and then send the heads out when I get it all torn down.
