If you're changing the inner bearings and don't have a bearing shop near you,

I'm going to get the inner cam bearing numbers and the cam bearing numbers............and pick them up thru my work. Re-use my gears, new woodruf keys, then button it all back up again. Cams will be here Wednesday, but I'm not sure when I'll get to the work since it's pretty cold in the garage right now.

Does that really cut down on the upper engine noises ? Is it worth it, if so I may look a little harder into it

It quieted mine down a minor bit but not night and day difference. I ran the spring for about 30,000 miles and the only thing I did not like was that when I first fired the bike up the oil pressure was 60 psi until it was really warmed up. The good thing was the oil pressure was always above 30 psi no matter how hot it got at cruise speeds. I decided to go with the SE camplate/upgraded oil pump and I like that the fact that oil pressure is not quite so high on cold start ups and is still plenty at hot cruise speed and hot idle. As far as your original question the spring is worth $12.00 and if you are running gear drive very east to install. If you are running chain drive it is a little tougher but you can still do it without removing the cam plate but it takes some patience to get the old spring out without removing the cam plate because the tensioner spring tab is in the way.

I was going to buy a set of these lifters, but the guy ended the auction. I emailed him and he finally responded, but he won't be able to ship me a set of lifters for a couple of weeks. He had to leave town for a family illness, I'm hoping he can do something a bit quicker.
Any other options for a good set of lifters for less then HD wants for theirs?
I saw another set on Ebay for $30...........but again I would like to hear from people who have used them.
