I like my leather bags but I'm going to get hard bags also. I like both.

must be another one of those "08" up-grades... the leather bags on my anniversary have hard plastic liners, will hold an 18 pack and 2 bags of ice, and even have removable drain plug in the rear. I figure it's either an up-grade, or I have the "NFL TailGate PKG"

I like my leather bags, they easily can hold a 12 pack each, try that with hard bags!
Sharkbite, That may be true but with hardbags you can use them as an ice chest on a hot day = cold beer!! Try that with yoru leathers.

i like my leather bags. wish there was a decent way to secure them though.
Someone pointed this out on ebay the other day

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=130185660982

I wonder if this is a solution. If anyone has tried these I would like to know your opinion.

I have a set of these on my bike and I don't worry anymore about leaving it alone. Simple to use, easy to install and the bags are secured much better than stock. I recommend it.

I had the leather bags on my classic, the held more because you can stuff them; but they couldn't lock. But you can wax and shine the head out of the hard bags. I would go with the hard bags

One thing about the hard bags in cobalt blue is that for me itsometimes gets to be just too much color. I think the leather bags would give me the option to tone it down a lot. I've even considered the leather lid covers but for the cost of those I'dbe well on the way to a decent usedset of leather bags.In fairness Ihave to say that this blue has really grown on me, I think there's more metal flake than paintand it borders right between blue & purple so the colorchanges in different lighting;plus I hardly see other bikes this color. It'll need painting in a few years and I'll probably stay with this as the primary color but a white or cream for the 2nd tone. I just won some chrome lowers on ebay for it, whew. I had considered polishing them because they're so crustybut for the c-note I'll skip that fun...and ongoing upkeep.

OK, I know this thread is a little stale, but I think I just proved that the leather bags are better than the hard bags... stopped by the local super to grab a few groceries, saw the new Heinekin 5L keg

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-NfrBgYIEQ

, and had to have it, BUT [:@] WOULD IT FIT in my leather bags????

Bought it anyway, and YES [&:] it fits ( a little tight, but it fits)

Challenge!!!

Will it fit in the hard bags, OR NOT?
