I like the CLASSIC Look of the SoftBags... They DO HOLD MORE and I haven't had any problems with warpage and most don't if you take the time to keep them up.... Locking was also taken care of by installing aftermarket saddlebag locks...

I have both.... and each have their advantages. In summary:The hard bags do hold more and lock overthe RK Classic; the RK Classic give my scoot a nice look/change. Keep both, for $200 (I got mine from Red on this forum) it is a very different change that would take heaps of $$$$ in bling to make the same amount of change in the looks of your scoot, and in less than 5 minutes you can switch back and forth...

I bought my RKC this summer and it has hard bags on it. I'm glad the bike has those as they would be hard to find in cobalt blue/silver two-tone, and probably more expensive than used leather bags; and, I know they are better from the regard of locking and water-proof. I've been considering putting leather RKC bags on it and storing the hard bags to use for extended road trips. However, I've seen where many people seem to replace the leather bags at some point, plus I've seen a lot of leather bags that have warped lids or the sides look swelled out, broken lids, etc. Just wondering about the leather bags, if you guys thought it would be worth the ~$250-$300 used price on ebay just to change the look of the bike, so I wanted to get opinions from people who have owned the leather bags. Thanks in advance.

I like the look of the leather RKC bags. The look is one of the reasonsI bought the bike. I've ridden in all kinds of weather and have jammed the bags full - they still look good and have kept their shape. I've also got hard bags on my e-glide, and you can pack more into the leather wrapped bags, as they tend to "give" a little.
Of course, having both does give you the option to change the look, as pointed out by HogBack.

LOL, I guess that makes me wrong only part of the time!
I've got both, and I got my reasons for havin both.
The leather bags look great when I'm running the RKC windshield, but when the Fairing and tunes are on, It's gottabe wearing the hard bags. I've also ordered a tour pac and solo rack for the hard bag and fairing outfit.
I say run with whatever floats your boat and fits the situation.

Have had both on my Road King Classic, but preferred the hard bags for ease of maintenance, waterproofing, and locking ability. But if you can find a set in excellent condition on eBay for the price you suggest, it would give you the option of having both. That was my idea in getting the hard bags, but once I had them on I never put the leather back on and eventually sold them on ebay for $650.
