I am looking to buy an Ultra Classic and a dealer is offering a leftover ' 07 (new) Ultra for $2,000 less than the equivalent ' 08. Are the new Brembo brakes, and drive-line fix he told me about along with throttle by wire worth the extra $2,000 or should is the ' 07 basically the same bike as the ' 08?

The Hueg
Where it counts (engine) both bikes are identical ........... both run lean .......so heat is a BIG problem (stock) in stop-go traffic. The 07-08 have de-facto identical transmissions ... they only differ in the drivetrain ........ the 08 has the factory installed IDS .... a MUST on the 07 ........ the clatter without it will drive you to distraction.THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM WITH THE 07's. All this being said, the bike is great ON THE HIGHWAY. Gas mileage is good and it's very a very comfortable ride. I love mine ...........

I'm with the rest though, buy the 08 ......... the ABS is a definite plus .... you might not need it but if you do, you'll be glad you had it.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat???? First I've heard of this! This would kill my low speed handling ......... clutch/throttle/rear brake. (ahem) Is the MoCo aware of this?

I just traded my 04 FatBoy (totally tricked out) for the 08 Ultra. I was real nervous about the change, but I can say that now I KNOW I made the right choice. The 08 Ultra is the best stock bike I have EVER been on. As for the throttle lag, I have NO lag at all. If anything I think the throttle response on my 08 is better than my fatboy ever was. Just MHO

I'd go for the '08 for the improvements alone{ Brembo brakes, bigger tank, IDS, etc. } I would have held off on buying my '07 if I had known at the time there were gonna be so many changes .

Mine used to drive me crazy. My brain is adjusting to the timing. I don't notice it as much anymore. I think they all do it but some don't notice it because of the way they ride. T.
