I'm sure that others here know more than me. Does the 08 come with the "parade program" where the rearcylinder is shut off on idle? I know it's an option on my 07 and I assume the bike would shake more at idle. Just a thought.

Yes it is normal... Rubber mounts! the ridgid mounts do not shake like that, but you feel it at speed, so it is a fair trade if you ask me.

Some models shake more than others due to where the idle is set. On my Road King I had the dealer set the idle lower to give the bike more potato, potato, potato sound at idle. When they did it shook more. You should contact your dealer and check and see where your idle is "on the computer and not your tach". They can set it a little higher which should in turn smooth it out some. Keep in mind that you have what many call "a paint shaker". Due to the fact that it's not counter ballanced like the softails however as some said on this thread when you speed up a bit it does smooth out.

When I put the first 50 miles on my Ultra, I noticed the bike jumping and bucking like a wild horse at idle... Took it to the dealer who done something to the FI and smoothed it out... Still does it a little but not nearly as bad! Factory engine and FI set up is done in ideal conditions but as you ride and break-in things the bike charastics change and an adjustment may be needed.

The 96in motor does vibrate more at idle than the 88in. when new.The motor will smooth out more as you ride it and by the 1000 mile mark you should notice a considerable difference at idle. So put some miles on that Ultra and enjoy it!
Have Fun,
