Default $87.00 for an Oil Change?

I am the proud owner of a 2007 FLHT, using HD synthetic oil.

The time before last, the local dealer charged $65.00 for the oil change. Humm, I thought a that was a little much, but being a new owner, I didn't question it.

Last week, I was charged $87.00 for the same service. I balked at that, and asked why so much. He reviewed my account history, and revised the price down to $65.00

This is not a bash post regarding my dealership. The guys there are great, and always friendly. The service is always top notch.

I just need to know - is $87.00 a fair price for an oil change?

Even $87 is cheap for an oil change at a dealer. At least around here. But......it's still waaaay over priced for something you could do yourself in 30 minutes. Plus there's the hassle of bringing the bike to them and bringing it back. If possible, I'd do it yourself.

When you do it yourself with a good synthetic it cost around $50 for Gasket, oil filter, oil.

87.00 is not high for the dealer.... particularly with synthetic...but it is high for such a simple service.

I think I'd ask him to review my account once more. It worked pretty well the first time.

Why would the dealer have 2 prices?

Why would you go to a place that gives you a price then drops it when you question it. That says volumes about that dealership!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since I am still waiting for my 08 service manual, I was wondering how many quarts I need to complete my first oil change. For all three holes.
