Deer on the road this morning
Was on a little feeder road that has 3 blind curves in less than 150 yards. Came around one of the curves at about 25 mph and 30 feet in front of me, in the middle of the road, was a little 6 point buck just staring right at me.
After a second of a stare down (as I was applying the brakes) he tried to head back in the woods from the direction he had come from.
He slipped and fell flat on his butt. [sm=insomnia.gif] Jumped up and was off the road by the time I reached the spot he had been standing.
No real danger, I was going slow enough that if he had not moved I could have stopped in time.
But this is why, when on the thousands of miles of beautiful 2 lane country roads around here, I always slow when approaching a blind curve or topping a blind hill.

Same here in Tennessee greatriding but you have to be on your toes..The Dear and the Dogs are one thing, but when people are cutting hay look out for tractors and that slow moving farm equipment. The weather has been great for riding.

RE: Deer on the road this morning
Have had many close ones with deer & Elk... But once in SD in Custer National Park came around a slow curve in a mild rain and came face to face with a Buffalo crossing the road real slow.... Needless to say we came to a quick stop - put the bike on the jiffy stand and stepped back out of the way while he made his crossing....
