Love the cruise. Had it put on when purchased.
Wouldn't have a cycle without it.

I have to wonder, if the Cruise control will work on a Softail? Heck, its the same engine. What is different that would prevent this working?

Trail: The touring models come with the wiring to plug into the HD cruise control module; softail bikes don't have the wiring. If you want to install a HD cruise control unit on your softail, contact Dave, the owner, of Cruisemount and he can supply the necessary wiring:

http://www.cruisemount.com/

xfasteddiex: The cable lash initialization is part of the installation for all of the pre-'08 touring models and there is no need to take it to the dealer to have it done. It is explained in the HD Service Manual's section on Cruise Control.

i find i use my cruise more often when i ride with less people. the more riders there are, the greater the speed differences.

Time and money well spent. I don't use it much but it beats turning the old thumb screw.

Me too - unless I'm leading, then I engage it. One of our CMA Road Captains doesn't have Cruise Control. Speed up, slow down, drives me nuts. He's a great guy, just can't maintain a constant speed.

Bill,

I'm with Peekaboo...now I'm ambidexterous! Seriously, the best addition I've made to my EG Classic, and it was a great learning experience to do the install myself(with help from the many contributors to this great Forum). Guarantee you'll love it.

I dn't have cruise. I will use the thumb lock, but not often. Can cruise even be installed on a bike that has a carb? I think that I read somewhere where it couldn't be done... but what the hell do I know.
