I had them on my old Indian and I loved the look. Now if you get them, you need to keep them clean cause nothing looks worse than a yellow wall! Of course I washed the bike at least once a week so they would get a good scrubbing and bleach white when I did that.

RE: wide white wall on black 9 spoke cast wheel
I do like the look I have nowwith WW andlaced wheels. It's the reason I chose a Classic over a Road King in the first place. They really are not that hard to keep clean. Idon't want to change but I keep reading the posts that say a bagger is too heavy for laced wheels. I have had no problem so far (11,500 mi.) but still am concerned aboutthe safety issue (loose spokes causing a puncture). I ride two up alot and with my wife on the back I have to admit thatI worryabout it some. As far as fixing a flat I would probably call road side assistance anyway but some saywith a tubed tire it'sdangerous because they go down so quick. Anyway, thanks all foryour input.

Sparky.......
Your tires must be very new/not many miles. The WW will yellow, and any grease or oil will stain them. There is a product called Bleche White that works very well, and it is at most auto parts stores.
As far as your laced wheels are concerned, do not listen to the "chicken littles", the doom and gloom folks. Laced wheels have been used on motorcycles since day one. If they were as dangerous as some would have you believe, most of us older riders would be dead. They only require a little attention once in a while. Before you spend all that time washing the WWs and spokes, clink a small wrench around the spokes. A clunk means a loose spoke. Any time a new tire is fitted, ask the shop to check them for you. No big deal.
Build it however you like, no one else's opinion counts.
