I've seen a bunch posts from my search but not exactly the question I have. I had H-D install an oil cooler on my 08UC and it went up from about 35 to 47 when riding warm. Is that a good thing?
Back pressure from the additional fittings and the cooler itself.. actual pressure is being read downstream from the cooler and "probably" will have no effect on the actual engine oil pressure.. Others may have different opnions... stand by...
The oil pressure gauge is what I'm reading, crusing speed about 70. It is different and I don't think anything is wrong. I'm just wondering if I need to keep an eye on those new oil hose fittings or gaskets because of higher oil pressure. I guess I wondering if higher oil pressure is better or not for a new bike.
No noticeable change here, running about 32-34 warm at highway speeds. There could be an issue with your O/P sending unit, as one day I saw high readings like you mention, but fell back to normal within 30 min. I attributed my anomaly to the sender, and it hasn't happened again.
Every time I've installed a cooler, I have noticed an increase in oil pressure. It has to do with the small passages that the oil is run thru which is what effects the heat transfer.
