Good post Budd,

Wish I had seen it last summer. We had a great time riding around there in July , we covered around 4700 miles. Our only problem was getting a hotel. Cody was full up due to a big rodeo in town the day we went through and Bozeman was a little difficult as I remember because of a bunch of goldwingers having a little get together ( Tea I think ). Other than that we enjoyed the beautiful scenery and plan on going back.

If your starting point is the Black Hills, another way is to leave the Hills by taking thewest side of Mt Rushmore, Hwy 16, to Newcastle, Wyoming. That road alone is beautiful scenery as you come down out of the Black Hills to Wyoming, as shown in the first picture. At Newcastle, go north on Hwy 85 up the east side of Wyoming, and stop by Devils Tower National Monument just north of I 90. You'll often see herds of antelope grazing out in the sage on this route. If you look carefully at the third picture, you can see flashes of color on Devil's Tower. Those are climbers heading for the top !

I've done lots of riding in that area in the 3 times I have gone to Sturgis since 1994. I took the wife to Sturgis this past summer and was through this area again. This summer we are heading back down the Cody/Yellowstone area to hang around for a few days and skipping Sturgis. It's finally time to leave Sturgis behind as it was no different this last time as it was when I went the first time in 1994.I want tostart seeing other parts of the USA as there are so many great places to see. I think you could spend a month in the area aroundYellowstone and still not see everything.
