I know this has been beat to death but i have an 08 with drive by wire throttle. Dealer tells me they
can't do anything to change the handlebars because of that. Has anybody put the Wideglide or other
mini apes on an 08 and if so are there cable issues?

I PUT 1988 HERITAGE BARS ON MY 07 RG.. I KNOW(AND U KNOW) THESE WILL NOT WORK ON THE 08 BUT U SHOULD CONSIDER 08 HERITAGE BARS WHEN AVAILABLE... THE REACH IS MUCH BETTER.. I WONDER IF HARLEY EVER SEES OR READS THESE POSTS.. IT SEEMS TO ME EVERY OTHER RG OWNER COMPLAINS ABOUT THE HANDLEBARS ON THIS MODEL AND OTHERS AND RIGHTFULLY SO! FOR WHAT ITS WORTH... WAKE UP HD!!!!!!!!!!!!1

 

Adapt any set of bars you want. I did and it works fine.

I just put 12" buffalo bars on my 07 RG, HOLLY SH$T they are nice. Gonna have to get a shock collar to keep me from falling a sleep on those long hauls.

 

Check out an 08 cop road king. They've got different bars than e/g. If you can't find one, pull up Bruce Rossmeyers Ft. Lauderdale website. It's got some pictures. Cop rk is the way to go. Ride by wire too.

find dawgs post on converting older bars to work, it can be done.

 

I added a set of 08 Heritage chrome bars to my 08 RG. Little more height and a little further back.

 

I am 5'4" with a short reach.. Think I have a problem.....Ha Ha What the best pull back bars out there.
