I have been through this exact senario save the portly wife. You mention passenger comfort very high on list no ? Put her on the wing and she won't get off remember this as it will be checkbook time 4u.

I think you should buy the bike you want not wish to suit her quite as muchbecause she will ride no matter just some rides may be shorter. In the end you are the sucker stuck with either bike not her.

The wing is a marvel of machinery but the Hog is more motorbike like. I like the idea of renting first but this can be confusing also. Good luck.

My cousin ride a GW, and I give him S**T, I ride an Ultra and he gives me S**T. It's all good he has a great 06. It's a very nice bike, but I like mine better, can't beat the HD tradition.

 

My salesman said.." If your going from here to Georgia, get the HD, if your going to California, get the GW. "

My buddy has a Wing and says it's just 2 plastic body panels short of being an Accord.

 

u can get a goldwing cheaper than that---I like them--if I could afford two bikes I would get one

 

add two wheels and that's whatyou have. My good riding buddy has an '06 GW and we regularlygive each other loads of crap. I just tell him he rides a TWC (two wheeled car).

 

You din't mention your size or height. I am jsut over 6 ft., Have had 2 Wings and now i own a Valkyrie and an Ultra. I had problems with upper leg cramps on the Wing, other than that we very much enjoyed the cross country rides. We have had only one season on the Ultra, but i enjoy the streched out seating position. If only it had a more comfortable stock seat. But I changed the Wings and the Valkyrie seat to Diamond Seats for more comfort, so I guess i will do the same wth the Ultra.
