Default Tour Pack Speakers Question

I've read a lot of discussions on here about adding rear speakers to tour packs and theexpense to do so.I also read comments about interfering with passengers of perhaps large proportions....Has anyone just cut holes and placed speakers in the front of the tour pack? Is there a reason why this wouldn't work like in the attached picture? Thanks for your opinion.

Ride well,

Jim

I don't see any reason it wouldn't work.

It would only accommodate a very small speaker since the mounting area is 5" wide at its widest/top and about 4.5" at the bottom; and the mounting surface is arched so I don't know how the speaker/grill would be a flush mount. Could speakers be mounted there? Sure. Cosmetically it would take some work to make it look attractive IMO.

Thanks for the insights I'm hesitant to do it because of 1st the holes weakening the pack, the aesthetics aren't the best, I guess I could use smaller 3" speakers or something like that and maybe hold them higher in the flatter area. It would be easy to protect the internal side.

Thanks, but probably not.

Jim

I just put Hogtunes speakers on my bike. When the wife is on, they are not completely covered but it's close. My wife is average size, not a wide body. I agree that more room would be great. Someone posted on another thread that the rear speakers are for a solo rider. Harley even states that in their literature. I'm finding this out.

Jim unless your going to reinforce the tour pac I'd just go with pods.

http://www.dragonflycycleconcepts.com/speaker_pods.htm

above is $200 not including speakers. Or speaker mounting hardware, well nuts for holding them in place, drilling any holes, etc....

http://www.eglidegoodies.com/id88.html

eglidegoodies, is appearantly the exact same ones as dragonfly. I'd supsect the same not including speakers or hardware and you do all the drilling for hardware...

I've bought the less expensive ones from dragonflycycleconcepts. Also bought the speakers from dragonfly. since they were the same physical opening size as the fairing that I've bought from DeadCenterCycles.
