Default SERT Questions you should ask before install

I have a 08 ultra and have decided to go with a SERT K&N and VH TD'S. The posters on here seem to say a SERT is better if you find a good tuner. What questions shouldyou ask to try to determine if the tuner is qualified? My dealer will put either a PCIII or SERT he kinda pushes the PCIII. He aslo said that it may still pop some on decell with with either. Is that right? I'm not sure how to ask him if his tuner is any good. I had a 99 with samsons TD'S and aTFI tuner and no pop at all and ran great.

The first thing to look at is his installation disc. It's a 32117-01N for 2008 bikes. You might be OK with a -01L disc, but if it's a top-notch outfit, N will be the version.

I didn't think the PCIII was out yet for the 08's. Anyhow, when I bought the SERT the "N" disc wasn't out yet, it was the "L" and I used map #100 which was for 1584 engine, SE A/C and racing exhaust. That will get you close. You don't have to have the dealer do your dyno if you don't want. You can install everything and have it dyno'd anywhere. I would start asking around who is a good tuner in OH in your area. Some here may know who is a good tuner in that area.

Dawg's right. Close is close enough in 99% of the cases. As I tell my customers, unless you're turning 1/4 miles for a living, you won't see the difference. I was only using the L to N as a reference to who was "up to date". However, some bikes won't even recognize the L version. 2008's had two ECM's and the early one's caused problems. It was a pre-install issue so if your '08 was tuned on an L you're OK. Some '08's will only tune on an N.

He did say the PCIII was not out yet, but will be soon, and I am doing this over the next 2-3 months

My bike is at Fuel Moto having mapping done on an early release PCIII right now. They'll be released shortly by DynoJet. I'm lucky, Jamie will do a custom map for my bike. I think he qualifies as an expert tuner.

I have been waiting for the PCIII. I check the Dynojet website daily. Was supposed to be Late November... now late December... Got an e-mail from Curt at Dynojet saying they still aren't sure about a release date.

MySERT part number is32107-01H with the CD being the "L" version. I bought my '08 Ultra on 8/30 and have used both map 100 for a Stage I upgrade and now map 106 for my recent 103" build successfully in both cases. If you buy a new SERT today, it will probably come with the "N" version CD.

32107-01H comes with 32117-01L. 32107-01L comes with 32117-01N.
