Rear speakers on a classic

RE: Rear speakers on a classic
I did the HD kit, got the parts off ebay for the Speakers, CB, Intercom and Bluetooth. Had to get a few extra parts from the Dealer to do the install. Was not that difficult with the help of the service manual. The Stereo had to be reflashed by the dealer to make the fader control work, but the speakers did work right away when plugged in. The intercom also worked right away even though the install kit said it needed to be flashed. I had one dealer that wanted to charge me $50 for the intercomm flash and $35 for the speakers. Needless to say went to another for the service and got it included for free so it all works.
If you are not in a rush and have patience you can find almost everything you need on ebay to do it. If you are not going to do any other add ons to the radio other than the speakers, it might be cheaper to do one of the aftermarket kits.
I did the factory because I wanted to the intercom for the wife.

Hogtunes ultra system comes with 2 speakers, 2 pods, amp, and wiring harness. Install was not a big deal. I did remove the fuel tank but it can be done by just lifting it up which saves the mess of removing the crossover hose (PITA).

RE: Rear speakers on a classic
Guys
Thanks for the kind words on Ultrasound--took me a year to complete that kit--actually 9 months on the product and another 3 tomake surethe "mothership" legal team would stay off my case
I always suggest to people that the HD pods and ours bothhave the rear speakers pointed directly at the RIDER, and as soon as a passenger of any.....ummmm..... "size" gets on the back, that the rear speakers get blocked. I urge anyone to keep this in mind before buying the Ultrasound if its for PASSENGER reasons. An alternative maybe to get our amp and front speakers only as this will benefit both rider and passenger.
If you click www.hogtunes.com/ultrasoundoverview.pdf you can read a breif whitepaper I wroteand see how Ultrasound compares to the HD offerings, and how it can benifit your needs. This will help make the best decision for you--If you have any questions, giime a call!

Mike,
You don't say what year EGC you have, but I put the HD speakers on my '08 and it isn't too bad a job and they work and look great. On the '08s you can remove the tank in 10 minutes as there is no crossover line to mess with and there is a nice covered cable tray under the tank to run the wires through. It is a pricey mod with the required cable harness, but a straightforward install.

Jim, Its a 07.
Phoenix, I guess I'm lucky there my wife's about 100lbs all wet, Now if I sit on the back (which won't happen) we got problems.
I'm thinking I may look into molding my own pods, maybe smaller for a 3-4" speaker. look into tucking them in out of the way a bit more.
I've worked with molding some parts from fiberglass, in building my custom 54F100.
