2/1 pipe which one
Got the motor build done HQs 103 --- it has changed the sound of the rinehart tru duals
at idle they sound great -- at speed they have developed a tin can type of sound
I want thunderheader--I like the sound---I am open to the following and would like opinions from those who have them or had them pros/cons
Rinehart 2/1 (still love the quality)
Bub 2/1
I know the D & D is one of the best but I don't like the sound
Vance and hines pro-pipe
Am I omitting something?
Thanks,
Lyn

RE: 2/1 pipe which one
Hey Lyn - Congrats on getting the build done. Here's my $.02 on the pipes you are asking about.
1) Rhinehart - According to Bub, they would restrict a build like yours. I talked to them when they first came out and told them my plans down the road included a 103" 10:1 compression build. They said the Rhinehart 2-1 is not enough pipe
2) Bub 2-1 (I assume you are asking about the new 7 pipe). No clue on that, seems too new to tell.
3) T-Header - I love the sound also, but can't stand the chrome quality on the ones I have seen. They are also notorious for a low end dip in TQ. It can be minimized with some baffle tab bending I have been told though.
4) Pro-pipe - Pretty good pipe. My Dad has one on his 106" and it works pretty good. Personally can't stand the looks, but that's me.

I've had Thunderheader 2-1 on my bike and they are the worst build quality, worst heat shields, worst chrome............but they sound good. The low-end torque dip can be fixed with some baffle mod (which I did on mine when I had it)................but in a couple of months the muffler will be blueing and the end will be turning black from the carbon around the venting area. The only thing I ever liked about them was the sound...........and that wasn't enough for me to keep it.
Since you did a good engine build, why not give it the exhaust it needs? Either the Bassani Road Rage or the Fatcat is the way to go............they are both tuned systems with equal length headers for improved performance. You put all the money into the motor, don't skimp on the exhaust.
