ORIGINAL: CSI Topeka

I'm 5'10", and have the 9.5 re curve in smoke. I see over it by about 2 inches or more, and it has a light enuff tint that I can see thru it as well.

It sounds to me, as tho you are more interested in "Looks" than you are wind protection. Having said that, the 4.5 might be what you want. I have a 4 inch smoked screen also, and while it looks good, the wind blast off it catches me right on the forehead. Also, it doesn't do much at all as far as deflecting bugs, etc. You end up eatin most of em.
This is why it is so hard for us to help much. I am an inch taller yet the 9.5 HD shield drove me nuts because I was looking right through the top of it and had to sit up real tall to see over it. So like others have said there are many factors that go into it and you have to measure yourself on your bike to see where your line of site is. However as you stated with the 4.5 or the 6.5 you shouldn't have that issue at all.

I agree the shorter SG windshields look sweet. I found a good middle ground where the shield looks good and retains most of the SG cool look but is also comfortable for the long haul. I like the look of the 8 and think the 6.5 dark grey would really look sweet and give you more function than you have now. Here is mine with the 6" HD shield on it.

I think I am going to go with the 6.5" and I WILL GET THE FINAL WORD FROM CLEARVIEW. I like the 6.5" and think it will suite my taste and fuction perfect. If I don't like it I am sure some forum member will enjoy it if I don't.

Be sure to order your windshield with the "recurve" It's supposed to make a 6" work like an 8" shield...To bad it don't work for other things!!!!

I am looking at buying a new clearview sheild and would like input on size. I am 5'9' and if seat matters am on a sundowner. Which height works for those of you that are around my height. I am undecided between the 4.5 and the 6.5. I would prefer to stay as low profile as I can. Thanks in advance.
I'm 5' 10" and have an 8" smoked with recurve, a tad too tall when backrest isn't attached, about right with. I send to slump when there's no back support. I would say a 6.5" would be good if you want the wind to almost clear your helmet, which this height should barely do or hit just the top part. The 4.5" will probably put the wind at center helmet, which I wouldn't think would be favorable. Just a guess.

I'm looking at Clearviews also. I'm 5'10 and debating if I can get away with 8 inch as opposed to 9.5 inch?? I have an EG, it may set rider higher than Street Glide??
I'm also debating between smoke and dark grey?? They say you cansee though both. I'd like to go dark as possible.

Maybe I'll have wifey order me one for Christmas.

I'm 5' 10"....I get to much buffeting with the 8" & had to go for the 9.5 with the recurve.

I have a Clearview 8" recurve that i used for about 200 miles I'm going to put on Ebay if anyone is interested. no scratches, light tint.

I'm 5'10" with a Sundowner seat.I couldn't decide whether to go with the 6 1/2" or 8". The guys at Clearview suggested I get one of each for trial and send back the one I don't like. Good idea as I only had to pay return shipping rather than reordering and having to pay a second shipping charge. I chose the 8" with the rercurve and am happy with that. However this post reminds me that I was going to buy a 10" shield from Fastaire for winter riding. I thank they only cost $20. I will order that one Monday.
