After owning an Ultra, I rode a friends RG. When I gotto the first turn, the fairing didn't move and it just about freaked me out with only the bars moving.I also found that at night I had rather have the batwings ability to light what was ahead of my front wheel, not what my frame was pointing at. For me it was just an uncomfortable, unfamiliar bike. If I had started on a roady, I'd probably feel different. It did feel much more stable at speed and especially behind 18 wheelers.

As others have said, rent both and ride them and make your choice. Good luck with your new bike.

I own a RG and have driven the EG models too. My advice is forget about handling. There isn't a significant difference between any of the touring bikes. Buy the one that has the features you like and the look you find best. Oh, and buy extra life insurance if you turn your handlebars as you go into a turn.

Good luck. If you decide to buy a Road Glide, check the classifieds in the forum. I hear there is a spotless RG for sale there...

the headlight pointing where you turn the bars argument applies at parking lot speed. above that my rg lights up the whole turn just like on a batwing . harley is the only bike that mounts a fairing that big to the bars.

I vote for the RG. I've done the batwing thing. I am on my 2nd RG and the next will be ? Yeppers, Road Glide.

Have always had E-Glides, for no other reason than I just can't get passed the look of the RG fairing . Everything I read and heard about them has been good, just not for me , personally .....IMHO, LOL !
