Aftermarket mufflers do not have a catalotic converter
1 1/4" Freeze Plug
EFI is EFI, does not matter
Good Luck

stupid question...true dual or 2 into 1, if it seems so "easy" to just plug the pipes, why doesn't everyone do it?
One factor is the unequal length of the stock head pipes. Many of the aftermarket 2into one's have equal length head pipes.

RE: Anyone cut Y pipe to make 2 into 1?
In answer to your question YES I have done the conversion.
I cut the left header outlet and welded a plate over the gap and install a sensor bung, an easy job to do if you have a mig welder or have someone local to perform the work. If you look inside the horizontal part of the header you will see that the vertical part of the header extends into the front pipe a small amount, I used a die grinder & file to remove the pertrusion hoping to ease the flow of the front exhaust. The actual angle of the rear to front join isn't optimum but what difference this makes I don't know.
I install one of the D&D Police interceptor mufflers that I was already using on the true dual set I was running.
Performance wise my seat dyno told me that there was a gain in torque 2000-4000rpm which was what I was looking for.
I did this change to see if I would like the 2into1 sound and if I would be happy with the single pipe look.I obviously am happy with both as I purchased a Supertrap supermeg 2into1 unit and am very happy after to many exhaust changes.
If loudness isn't an issue the Fatcats are a popular choice where as the ST's can be tuned easily for loudness or quiteness ( quiteness being what I was looking for )
Hoping this helped
