Default PCIII install

OK I've been trying to install my PCIII for the last hour on my '05 RK. Everything hooks up together well, except just when I think I have it, the side cover won't fit on.How do all of you have the wires and connectors routed to make everything fit?I've tried all different ways, anyone have the secret or pics?

Its a tight fit. Just try to get all the wires to lay as flat as possible. A few zip ties helps keep everything under control. Other than that sorry I don't have better answers. Didn't take me more than a few minutes to plug it in and go but I do remember that there are a lot of stiff wires in a small place.

Yep, what he said. It will fit -- just keep cramming it in!

Hey thanks guys, like you said cram it in there. I do have one other question, I got my pcIII from fuelmoto with one of his maps. Before i call him, do the light bars on your pcIII show the in the middle or where? Mine is one bar from the bottom of full lean, just wondering if i should zero to the middle two bars?

At idle the bar will be at the bottom-most position, as you twist the throttle it will rise and fall.

before you get all excited and just start riding, follow through and set your zero and 100% throttle settings. you'll be much happier that you did and it only takes a minute.

Hi all,

I found it to be stupidly easy compared to a softail. I originally had a Fuel pac on the ol lady's 06 RKC andI replaced it witha PC111 from a softail I sold. Get some long zap straps and strap iton. Ifound that it really on goes one way.

I have plenty of room in my '07 SG, and have never had a problem. I also have a hub, the small red box at the top of both photos, stuffed in the same area for use with my map switch. See photos. Wire-ties are a must to tuck the PCIII and connector in place without shifting.

Cowboy is right about the Softails. I installed a PCIII in my neighbor's '07 Deluxe, and it was a bitch, barely fitting under the wheel-well mud cover. The FLH's are a piece of cake by comparison.

As was mentioned by someone else and worth repeating, do your throttle-position settings now, as there's a near-100% chance they aren't set right by default. Power the PCIII with a 9V battery, connect to your computer via USB, then turn the ignition on. Do not start the engine. On your computer go to the TP settings window and hit "Reset", which immediately sets 0% TP, then twist the throttle to 100% and hold for a few seconds 'til the number on the right settles. It should read around 28k for 100%, 4k for 0%, or thereabouts. After closing the window double-check the TP at idle and full. You can do this procedure without the 9V battery and engine running, but IMO it is not a good method since it takes a second or two for the reading to settle, and that's too long with the engine reving beyond what may be safe.

Thanks guys, I'm going to try iclicks way of setting the TP. I did it while it was running and if I remember right the full TP read about 16000. I may have to redo it and see if it changes.
