Legends HD in Silverdale,WA charges $1095.00 for set up and $350.00 for freight on new bikes.I would've bought a new Harley awhile ago if not for this gouging. Prices in western Washington are still high. I'll go down after christmas and see if they will deal. Bikes are sitting on the showroom for months now. FLHX in white really has my attention. This forum has a lot of useful info. Where is a good dealer in WA State???? Peace.
I'd also like to know who's good in WA State. I have my eye on a new FLTR.

My dealer (Ocean State Harley) has always sold bikes at MSRP even during the '90s and doesn't charge a set-up fee. There is a freight charge of around $350.

i have never paid setup, and refuse to. the setup is a matter of the shop's "porter" usually the least paid guy on staff, to un pack the bike and check fluids and such. a porter from a dealer here in S. Austin told me it only takes him a total of .5 hours to have a bike from crate to showroom. do the math. the dealer's (salesman) next argument is those fees incorporate "shipping". I won't pay their shipping either, they wanted to get the bike there so they could sell it, I consider that to be operating costs and won't cover it for them. that "prep/setup" fee is the FIRST point of contention between myself and the salesman when we go to paper...

Money is not the issue, I just refuse to let my hard earned money go with out a fight!
Besides, that's more money to spend on it later!

Don't pay a penny for that stuff.... Walk in with your money or financing and don't pay over MSRP + tax & Lic. (+ Emissions in CA) Many places will beat that now.

Believe it. They want to sell it more than you want to buy it.

Pay for options... but Freight and Set-up are charges they WANT you to THINK you have to pay.

They will get plenty of money from you over the next few years. Don't volunteer more!

Should be able to get about $300 - $1000 under MSRP + tax. MSRP, free setup, minus something good, like accessories, a rider's edge course, discounted big bore, etc.

Shop around there are plenty of Stealers that do not charge the set up fee and will eat the freight as well!
