Default RE: Set up fees

When I bought a new RKC the dealer was going to charge me for the setup and freight...I said it's a deal breaker...That was all it took...Knocked it off and we went from there...

The dealer is in Westminister.
By the way the feeis for an Ultra, it is still way too much IMO.

Tell him you'll pay $10,000 setup/delivery.............but it doesn't change the bottom line. You don't care where he puts it on the sales slip, or the amount, it's the bottom line that counts. Gettin' lost in this cost, that cost, a fee here, a fee there is the way the sales geeks screw you. Do some research, figure what you're comfortable payin' & tell him to write it up anyway he wants as long as the *TOTAL* is what you want..............

This is the car dealers verion of $399 document fees. Our state charges about $35 for new title and registration and the whole deal. soit's about $350 in their pocket. I've seen the doc fees as high as $799. and then dealer prep and body sealnat and upholstry sealant et al.... Just another way to separate you from your hard earned money. If nothing else , the MOCO learns and adopt ways to increase their profitibility. Tell em to take it off or walk on the deal. If enough people will instead of getting barely fever and signing anything the dealer puts in front of them, eventually they'll quit this silly crap.

Im have been looking for a new RKC and one of my local dealers has $450 freight, $350 setup, $275 doc, for a total of $1075, Well after a few trips to the shop they asked what it would take to get me to buy a bike and i said i would pay MSRP and tax and no fees. Two days later i got a call from them and they said if i bought from them before January they would not charge me any fees.
Im going to go visit them again Dec 26th and try to work a deal.

I would shop around. I am sure you can find a dealer in your area with no extra bs fees. $500 is somewhat legit but given the time of year and economy I would think MSRP + tax should be the most you would have to pay.

The dealer I bought from wanted $995 a set up fee. I got out-the-door quotes from two other dealers. One wanted $125 for set up. I told that to the first dealer and they matched it. I was glad because I wanted to do business with them.

Bottom line:

Always shop around at several dealerships for itemized out the door prices.

We have some dealers here that think they can charge Fair Market Value fees here for a bike. I've tried to buy 3 bikes from them. Like the dealer and salesmen. but I've told them 3 times I will not pay FAir Market Value for nothin.
