Default Changing angle of backrest

I have an 08' RG and just put a backrest on it.The angle of the backrest puts me too far forward. I went to the local dealer and compared some of the different models and it appears they are all the same angle. I think if I can bend the angle of the bracket it will work. Has anybody done this? T.

Some guys are putting washers in between the bracket and fender to change the angle. Seems to work great so far. Do a search and you'll find It.

Bent the (round) backrest support struts. Doesn't take much.

yep always wondered why HD didn't put an adjustment in the angle.
You can move it forward and back which will also change the angle somewhat.
Remove seat and look at the bracket.
Undo the front bolt on the strap, not the one on the battery, but small one
on the strap itself. Then undo the 2 fender nut mount nuts.
Move it forward one hole.
But now it may be two close over all.

I cut a slot between the two holes and put it in the middle between two.
Better for me.

I took it off and turned it arround and remounted it. It is almost the perfect position for me. The strap didn't connect to anything but the two mounting bolts fit fine. This winter I will probubally rig up a strap of some sort. just don't try pushing the bike uphill useing the backrest and the two bolts should be oK.

Remove your backrest, lookon the back at the bottom of the vinyl. You will see grommet that frames a hole in the vinyl. Move the grommet around until you see an allen socket in the backrest. This is where you adjust thetilt.

I had it adjusted as far as it would go and it still put me too far forward. I just finished taking the cover off and bending the bracket slightly. I am going to leave the staples out of the cover until I am convinced this is the proper angle. Thanks for the advice. T.

What he said. The various bolt holes move it forward and backward. By adjusting the allen bolt, you change the vertical angle.

I took my HD backrestoff, returned it to the dealer, and then ordered a Mustang backrest. It adjusts & pivots at the point where the shaft connects with the backrest pad, just enough to accomodate different back sides. I had one on a Superglide, and now I have one on my EGC. If it's not too late to return it to the dealer, you might consider this option.

On my road king classicinthe instructions for the Road King it would not let me use the last hole. I don't why that bike is different.
