Default Ok. Has anybody taken the baffles of their samson mufflers.

TodayI took out the baffles out of my sampson mufflers and my king sounded like a freaking monster. beefy, loud, deep growling sound. My hog is loud enough as it is, but man I couldn't believe the sound I got without the baffles. Does this affect performance? That is my question. And does anybody actually ride around town with a hog this loud. I heard hogs that are loud, but this was insanely loud. Would I get pulled over by the cops.. Probably.

yes you will loose some torque by removing the baffles. also you should have the bike retuned afterwards as well as I believe it will run leaner with the baffles out.

I have Samson straight pipes. They don't have baffles, and yes, they are loud. I had to re jet the carb, as expected. I love 'em. Here in NM we don't have a noise ordinance in place, so I haven't heard a peep from the police. I also have read where straight pipes rob low end torque, and I am not going to argue that, but I was not able to notice any difference, at all.

LOUD - YOU BET.... Loose Performance More then Likely (why? reduced the back pressure to the engine) - Should you install a different program or get a new upload YEP...

Do people ride around town with Pipes That Loud.... Yes - Till they get a ticket (lol)

well i should have said that i have the pythons with removable baffles. when i put the SERT in I had the bike tuned at iron horse and spoke with the mech there about this issue cause I did want to remove the baffles. he was the one that i recommended not doing it since it would rob from the low end. he did richen it up a little so I could remove the baffles if I wanted too. about a week later i thought I would see what it was like. I removed the baffles and the bike did sound great so took it for a short ride. I did notice that it wasnt pulling as much was a little more sluggish. so went back home and put the baffles back in. now this was only my experience you may get different results with your pipes.

i wonder if i drilled bigger holes in the baffle body, just to get a little louder tone. i just don't want them to start whisling dixie or something by doing that. any thoughts on that option. or maybe if they sell shorter baffles for these???????

'cause those guys run at 10,000 rpms. They could care less about low-end torque.
