Default Wild1 WO518 Handle Bars on 2008 Touring

Hello All...

I'm VERY Interested in the WO518's to put on my 2008 RK Standard...

I was wondering if ANYONE has done this yet???

If so what needs to be changed??? Cables??? Throttle-By-Wire??? Nothing???

According to the website it says that STOCK WORKS... I am mainly worried about the THROTTLE BY WIRE SYSTEM...

Hope to hear back from someone that has some experience w/ this...

Thanks!!!

RON

as far as fbw , you will have to ream the hole in the bars out a bit. someone did this with 575's on a 2008 e glide. sorry cant help wiyh the RK questions.

Not ream out the holes, cut notches into the end of the right side handlebar to make the sensor for the FBW fit. Do a search and there are several threads with photos

I spoke w/ Wild1 and they are cutting and notching the bars for the 2008 Touring Models for you...

I was just wondering if anyone has actually used them yet...

I'll be watching this post. I need the same thing for my 08 RK. Will the cables/wire work without adding anything? What are you wanting from the bars? Closer to rider/little more rise?

I can only tell you that on my Son's '05 RK we put +2 Braded on all his cables & lines and had to extend the internal wiring...

According to HD, if you are going to be internallywiring the handlebars, then you cannot use your stock OE throttle sensor. The part number you will need is 32310-08 for $89.95 This is the throttle sensor for 1.25" handlebars.

Are police rk bars different this year? In the past they've been more rider friendly. They use the rbw too. Will the existing wiring work?

I just put a set of WO 518 handle bars on a 2008 FLHR. Your stock clutch cable and brake line are long enough but you will have to bend the front brake line filling at the master cylinder a little in order for it to work and look good. I ran all of my wires on the inside of the bars. The throttle by wire harness is long enough but you will have to extend the rest of them. No additional HD parts are needed. The hole in the center of the WO bars where the wires enter the headlight nautical needs to be enlarged. It is to small. I took a pencil grinder and opened the hole up 1/2 inch wider so the wires would pull through. You are going to LOVE the position the 518's put you in compared to stock.
