Default Ultra Tour Pack... Solo Position

Ultra Dudes,

I am looking for a picture ofan Ultra Tour Pack mounted on a
detachable solo tour pack rack and using it as therider backrest.
I think I saw a picture of one on this website but can not find it.
Will the rear speakers present a problem?

Thanks,
magnoliarunner

jeepster09,

Yea, thats kind of what I am looking to do.
What seat do you have on your bike?
I am thinking about using the Sundowner Solo Smooth
but don't know if the speakers will be in the way.

Thanks,

Thirdup,

Nice write up. Very informative.
But I already have my Ultra Tour Pack andtwo-up detachable tour pack
rackmounted on my bike.
I was looking tobuy the solo tour pack rack to movemy tour pack forward
and use it for my backrest.
I am looking for pictures to see whatthe solo setuplooks like and if it
would fit with the rear speakers.

Thanks,
magnoliarunner

Ditto the idea! You'll probably have to change the seat as well.

Ride well,

I am thinking about using the Sundowner Solo Smooth

Be advised that the Sundowner will not work with a backrest, and the backrest for HD Tour Paks are too high to work well in the solo position, leaving the lumbar area of the back upsupported. I tried it and after a two-mile test ride pulled it off and returned it to the dealer. I settled on the Mustang #79100 with backrest, but had to do some mods to the solo rack to gain sufficient clearance. Not sure if this seat will fit the Ultra, but I don't know why not. I wrote it up the rack mod here:

One of my favorite mods that I've seen posted on this forum:
(solo/two-up on-the-fly adjustment)
https://www.hdforums.com/fb.asp?m=2458359

It appearshe used a chromed forklift seat slider conbined with various quick-release bits:

Very cool mod, IMO.

I have it on my 2006 RG. I wiredthe speakers and lightsinto one single plug in. For the seat I have a Mustang solo with backrest. The backrest of the seat and tour pack together are very comfortable. The speakers fit fine also. The only problem is my lower hip area is a little wide and it seems to block some of that sound quality. Oh well guess you can't have it all!!
