Picking up a fallen bike.

RE: Picking up a fallen bike.
One can lift a lot of weight with the legs.
I saw a fellow in our town win a case of beer from another fellow by lifting a Kubota 30-something HP diesel tractor rear wheel off the ground just using his body.
The winner of the bet probably weighs 120 pounds so soaking wet.
With his back on the ground and his knees in the air, he put both feet at the top of the wheel and he lifted that wheel about six to eight inches off the ground.
Naturally, I and everyone else helped him out with his new winnings!

Don't know if any of you have seen this
www.pinkribbonrides.com and go to the dropped bike tab
This lady teaches classes on how to pick up big tourers
and it is so easy with NO back danger
it is a must watch...must learn. And i seem to get plenty of practice

RE: Picking up a fallen bike.
Great advice and yes use your legs not your back. It is still a tough task but can be done. I agree stop and think about what you are about to do before you begin. I watched an elderly man drop his Electra Glide at an intersection right in front of me at a red light. His foot slipped on some oil on the pavement. I am 48 and did exactly what ya said to do and I righted his bike. It was still a tough task especially with everyone driving by and honking. I was afraid of flipping it over because it had fallen on the kickstand side.
