Accessory outlet / Battery tender

I am thinking about getting some heated gear (liner, gloves), and I was wondering where do they get plugged in, on a 2008 UC? The dealer tells me that the accessory outlet (controlled by the fairing mounted switch, and found under one of the side covers), is mostly used for extra lights, GPS, etc., but that heated gear should have its own fusedharness, wired directly into the battery. I asked him if this harness can be the whip for the battery tender (which I need to install, as well), but he said no, because it's a different gauge wire, and the plug wouldn't match. I am somewhat confused about all this. When I bought the bike, I was under the impression that one can just plug a heated garment into an existing outlet, controlled by the Accessory switch on the fairing. He also said, one should not power a heated accessory from the cigarette lighter.
What do you guys think, and what are you using to power your heated gear?

[:@] Had the same problem (08 UC)- there is an accessoryconnector under the left side cover and one in front of the battery. However - these type connectors will not work with the battery tender. So - - I purchased a battery tender last year an still had the cables that came with it. Hooked the battery tender cable to the battery and now I have a "Battery Tender" style connector. Have it coming out the left side cover when on the tender. The battery tender cable/connector comes with an in-line fuse and is the correct gauge wire.
