Default 2006 Road King oil cooler

I just bought a new 2006 Road King Classic. I live in SW Louisiana and was wondering if I should install an oil cooler on my bike. I'm planning on mostly highway riding with a little city riding. Any ideas on this and reasoning behind it? I appreciate it. By the way, new to this forum, but not to bikes. Just never had one with an oil cooler on it.

Oil coolers can't hurt at all as long as you get the oil up to at least 180* to cook off moisture and it will do it under that as well, just not as fast. It will keep the oil a bit cooler naturally and that's a plus for the life of the oil. Synthetics usually tolerate more heat before breakdown starts usually around 300* as opposed to 250* for dino oil. All depends on the type of riding you do mostly(area) and the temps involved also.
