Default Looking to add a Tach (Road King Classic)

I've seen some post on tachometers ... but was wondering

(1) what looks the best on a Road King Classic and
(2) are there any preferences over a speedo/tack combo or just adding the tach.

Thanks!

Go for the dual HD speedometer and tach. Easy to install and works well. Just installed one in my RK Stnd.

I like Ted's idea. The single mount (on the triple tree) looks good too. That's the most common one. Tachs are a must, especially if you are doing any engine mods.

I'm kinda in the same boat as you. I have added a quick detach fairing to my RK and will be installing a tach, oil pressure and oil temp gauges but I would also like to have a tach on the bike for when the fairing won't be installed. Since I will be using the fairing at different times my only option would be to install the combo unit. I just need to find out if running two tachs would cause any issues. I don't see why it would since the combo is a direct plug-in.

This is what I did on my RK Custom. I had to remove the chrome windscreen and modify/purchase some other parts to make this work but I prefer it to the combo tach. It is much larger, looks better (IMO), and doesn't interfere with windshield.

On my 04 RK I went with the SE Tach bracket that came on all the SE Road kings in 2003 and I think also in 02. I think that bracket is the cleanest looking one that Harley has to offer you can't see any wires at all. I've never seen another one on a standard RK before, Oh wait my dad has one on his. To find the part number you need to look in the old SE Road King parts catalog, It was alittle pricy but it's worth all $120.00 and any Harley mini tach will work with it.

I like the Combination Speedometer / Tachometer, I think it looks cleaner than mounting it on the triple tree.

I prefer the combo myself. I have it on my 2003 RKC.

[sm=americanasmiley.gif]I would suggest going with the HD combo. I have got two friend that have them on their Road Kings.
