picked up a few canvas organizer bags from home depot today

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-12-...9?N=5yc1vZc2g6

i attached this one to the inside of the saddlebag using the lid-strap screws

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-Org...5?N=5yc1vZc2g6

this one is attached to the lid-strap itself, fits almost perfectly

"DIY MODS" and TRICKS to SAVE $$$$$$-forumrunner_20140128_202728.jpg
I got a little bored today, so I decided to sacrifice a riding day and experiment. I made an insert (scrap cardboard and spare material) for my glove box and also made doors out of plexiglass (Home Depot). I used Velcro as a fastener for now and I used a small square piece of vinyl as a hinge. After that I decided to make a insert for my saddlebags. Made a pattern out of cardboard and cut it out and covered it with fabric. It's definitely not a finished project, but I wanted to see what it would look like before I spent money on a sheet of ABS plastic to screw up. :-)

Default Heat and Lid Fastening

I have the saddlemen lid organizers and had them on my RK. The fastening velcro/glue sucked and they continually came loose, I know the Arizona heat is part of the problem. Some of the posts here mentioned industrial velcro ( i believe available at Home Depot) and 3m double sided tape (available at A/P stores). Have those who used them had long term success. I upgraded to the 14 SGS and would like to move the organizers to the new bike but not if I am going to have the same problems.

Thanks

I have about 80% of the area covered with 3M velcro and the luggage rack bolts through it. Only the edges droop now.

I picked up some Industrial Velcro from Home Depot and this stuff sticks like crazy! I know this because I've tried to readjust it after part of it accidentally touched my project. It's survived the Florida heat on my sportive, so I'm hoping it'll survive in my tourpak as well.

On my saddlebag lid organizers, I got rid of the Velcro after it failed almost immediately. I put them back on by covering the entire backside of them with 3M automotive emblem tape from a parts store. They haven't budged one bit.

Yeah...I used some stuff similar to that before. It was double-sided exterior tape from Home Depot.
