I wanted to add a clock to my 2001 FLHR but didn't want to spend $99 for the fork lock clock or even $35 for the surface mount clocks.

I found a cheap clock from Bell on sale at Tractor Supply for $5.99 so I decided to give it a try. It's plastic and may not hold up to getting soaked in the rain but at $5.99 I figured it was worth the risk.

NOTE: I've attached pictures of two different packaging for the same product. Seems the product number has changed at least once.
After looking around my bike for a flat surface I decided to mount the clock on the handlebar stem above the fork lock. To mount the clock I removed and discarded the hook and loop strip that came on the unit, cleaned back of the clock and chrome with rubbing alcohol and mounted the clock with double sided automotive tape. So far this seems to hold, the real test will be the weekend rides.
Maybe Santa will bring me a fork lock cover clock but this should last me for the immediate future.

For my GPS solution, I removed the center storage area and then used Velcro and a small block of wood. Loved the 6 inch screen on this model. It's not waterproof so when it rains I just pull it off and stick it in my pocket. Another reason not to hardwire it. The cord goes from the unit, bunched up in the left compartment, and then down to the cigarette lighter. With three screws I can remove the GPS and compartments and go without.
(New to the site so I hope the picture I posted comes through - if not, I'm talking about a 3 compartment windshield storage item.)

Fender to Bag Gap Fillers
Ok, obviously this is before the fillers...
I started with a sheet of .050 6061-T6 Aluminum. Cut into two equal smaller 12"x 4" pieces. Then bent about a half inch on a 90 degree...using 3M double sided tape, attached the filler to the bag. Using a drill stop (as to not penetrate the bag) drilled two (top and bottom) 3/32" holes. Using very small p/k screws for added attachment.
Now I just don't know weather or not to paint em, polish em, or leave em alone...

garage opener
did the garage opener to the headlight,, just courious,, i run with the high beams quit a bit,, so what will this do to the circut board???? i know it will only open the door when in range, but with the high beams on all the way home sometimes means 12v to the board all the time i am using the high beams,, so mabe wiring to the brake light would be better???? any body had any problems with the board wired to the high beams,,?????

Secure bag mod
I was searching all over for how to secure the hard bags so they couldn't be popped off from the outside and stolen for my husband's '12 Street Glide. All I could find are kits that charge anywhere from $50 to $100 to lock them down. I found a quick and cheap solution with parts from Home Depot thanks to the suggestion of an ex-GM mechanic turned Home Depot employee. We took a 1" x 5/16" inch stainless hex bolt and a speed nut and fastened the outside of the bag with the speed nut which hooked over a flat support under the bag. From the inside of the bag we took the hex bolt and cranked down the bags. The shape and structure of the speed nut makes it damn near impossible to pop off. The price of everything at Home Depot was $7.60
