Help with Minor Customizations. Wheels, PC Forks, etc
I am going to order some wheels for my SG and decided to order some kind of lift and put them on myself. While I am doing it I want to get the front forks powder coated or replaced with black, maybe along with the crash bar and some new Monkey bars I want to order. So to get the front forks off is where I suppose I would need the most help with how to do it. Would a manual help, do I just gotta start taking it apart, any special tools or things to look out for? Basically looking for some forsight in this winter project or some directions. Are the wheels simple enough to change out also? Also looking for a powdercoater close to me in Northern Colorado.
Thanks People.

A service manual is a definite must. If you get the service manual it won't be that hard. I think you need a fork tool to install the fork seal, but I have heard people make one out of some PVC pipe.

What lift is that you got?

I did this over the summer with help from a buddy. Only special tool that you may not have is a long 6mm allen wrench to remove the fork tubes (I made one by cutting up a 6mm allen key), other than that, it is pretty straight forward. Manual is available at any dealer, I personally use the craftsman yellow lift with no problems. The front wheel is pretty simple, rear wheel takes a little more finessing to get on. I highly recommend a torque wrench. Best of luck!

It's very easy. If the way I took out the 6mm bolt doesn't work for you then you can use an air impact wrench and they come right out. I made a tool out of a PVC adapter and then used a straight piece of PVC to knock it down with.
