RE: Does Your iPod work well with Harley Radio
Do you guys know that if you put mp3's directly on a CD as data, instead of using the music format, you can essentially carry a 660GB IPOD on that disk and have it permanently in your radio, or swap it for another mp3 disk?
You will get about 125 to 150 mp3 songs on a CD and it costs far less than an IPOD, with no external connections or need to bring anything out, mount it, and bring it back in. Oh and did I mention, it's waterproof?

The ipod works great, but...the larger sized ipods use hard drives which are little delicate disks spinning around at high speeds. When they work, they're great. Over the long haul they may not like the vibration and die sooner than under their normal expected use/life. The smaller ipod nano uses a flash drive which is a solid piece of material like you put in your digital camera. While it holds a much smaller amount of music/data, there are far fewer moving parts. Thus, they'll probably live longer. Putting mp3 files on your CD if the player is compatible is another way to go. You can plug any mp3 player into your AUX jack and it will work fine. If you don't, you can always use the kind that broadcasts through your radio, but in populated areas you may have to keep changing the frequency to find a clear one. In some places, that's near impossible and a big pain. The direct cable is best, but you gotta use what you have. There's many ways to hook these little suckers up and many of the posts have some great ideas. One caution about the ipods, or any kind that uses a hard drive, don't drop them. They do not like that and may never recover.

I use the shuffle and it has it's ownbase that it sits in so it charges while I use it and it's so small I can put it in it's own little pouch and strap it on the handlebars. This way I don't ever have to worry about taking in the house to charge it and wait. The best of both worlds
