If, you've read down this far, one thing you might do, give each one of your newly made nut covers a liberal amount of CLEAR silicone inside them, then tighten up the set screws on the original axel nuts, this will help to keep them from ever falling off. Yes, you can pull them off after the silicone sets up. I know because when i pulled mine off the RK, each one on the front had a pretty good dab of inside the chrome nut covers. Opps, almost forgot, GREAT IDEA

Hi there from Scotland !
Go ahead and polish your brake rotors. My '07 Ultra rotors polished up like chrome, as did my '98 Anniversary ones. I'm told that it's the most common cheapo mod in New Zealand and Australia - where everyone polishes them!
Get the correct kit for the metal, and it takes about 40 minutes to an hour per rotor, using two grades of polish. My rotors have kept the shine, too.

For those of you that have chrome, or polished aluminum lowers, I'm sure everyone knows a machinist, or knows someone who knows one. Stainless steel, or aluminum pieces* could be made by a good machinist in a few minutes each. They could also be made with a cool design, live stepped, or grooved, or points. A few beers would likely pay for the job as the guy will just grab a small peice of left over bar end, and do it at lunch time. Or if you have the gold and silver timing and derby covers and other accesories, how about amco bronze* (looks yellow gold shines up nice, and is a tough bearing bronze)
I like the silicone idea, if nothing else it will keep moisture out!
And of course, don't forget to locktite the set screws!!
*(highly polished and clear coated after)
