Ha ha that's cool. I did the same thing to all my main engine bolts except I bought a small can of rustoleum gloss black paint and detailed anything on my bike that needed painting or was starting to rust. Man the finished product looks cherry. Very old school. I used fine brushes and got the paint just right. Looks sprayed on. Be carefull if you try this cause a slip of the wrist and you make a mess and it is oil based paint. Just for anyone who wants to make it look good cheap. I actually like it better than the chrome bolt covers. Patience and a little painting skills got my PIG looking sharp as a tack.

They look great, but aren’t those Home Depot pipe caps made in China?

Very innovative!! We need to see more posts on doing your own fabrication. Dawg those caps look great.
In light of the recent posts about hard bags being stolen so easily I also made a trip to Home Depot. Bought clevis pins for the bags, and after it was proven to me that the 1/4x20 bolts that hold the bag brackets can be removed with a speed wrench while the bags are in place, I bought 3/4 inch end caps for copper pipe. Drilled a hole in the ends, added a little gloss black paint, and put the bolts back on through them. Now you can't get a wrench of any kind on them and to use a socket the bags have to be removed(from the inside).
