Default Probability of insurance rate hike after accident?

Had an accident last June. My insurance is with Progressive and paid my totaled RoadKing claim promptly. really like the way they came through. Just wondering what i can expect when my insurance renewal is upthis commingMarch and how high my rate will be?
Just for fun, I did an Internet request quote with Geico, claiming the one accident I had to see what rate they would give me. That accident was the first accident i have ever had in 40 years.Geico's quote was $500.00 more per year than I am currently paying now with Progressive. Wow, don't have an accident. It seems to screw you. Don't know if i am willing to pay those rediculous rates to drive my ride.If Progressive gives me a insurance rate hikethat high, come this March, there will be a mint 2002 Pearl White RKC for sale. Any one of you that have had an accident claim....what did your insuranceco.bunp upyour rate up toafterthat claim?

Did you get the ticket or found at fault for the accident? In FL it is a no fault state, so my understanding that everyone gets penalized if the ins co feels fit enough to do it.

Also, did you try the progressive quote without claiming the one accident just to see what the rate would be? This would let you see what the impact is in general from one insurance company.

If they paid out to you or others because it was your fault, yes expect a rate increase and no need to try and change companies because none will except you unless your current company drops you.

I backed into a friend's vette in my driveway......Had to leave to return to his place out of state so I didn't fix it myself and told him to claim it on my insurace.....Total claim $1,100

My insurance doubled for 3 years!....They got back that 1100 X 2. (Progressive)

So yeah, expect an increase.

Mine went up with GEICO but only a couple of hundred. Yep, it was my fault. That's what happens when you got your head up and locked.

Can't imagine selling my bike over an insurance rate increase. I'm used to getting screwed on insurance since I live in a non-compete state(MA). Every carrier charges the same rates. I believe this is how it's done in Cuba too. [8D] [:@]

If money is that tight you should sell your bike and buy a 5 year old sportster or a metric...hey they are still motorcycles.

If you're at fault the chances are HIGH you WILL see an increase in yearly rates...
Alot depends on the Insurance Company - I have seen some insurance companies cansel the policy for a minor claim...

Dumped mine in October 06 after hitting some gravel in a corner. Bill to repair was around $9500 and I thought my insurance was going to skyrocket. I was pleasantly surprised when I received the ins. bill this fall. The increase was around $50 for a year long policy. American Family Insurance. I do have 4 vehicles, homeowners, and an umbrella all through them, so maybe that helped some.
