Default ABS system parts

What parts are in the ABS system? I've read that the V-Rod will use a magnetic wheel bearing for thesensor instead of a light ring, what is used for the police bikes?

Could I add ABS to a custom?

Is the controller a seperate unit? If so, it seems to me that I could swap out parts to put ABS on any bike.

I think the programing is in the ECU which would make a retro fit pretty difficult. Not sure though.

Thanks, I've been told about $3K for all the parts. Hmmm maybe it is time for a new ride.

Police Bikes 05 through 07 used Tone Rings on the Rotor and pickups and the ABS units were stand alone....meaning that they did not communicate with the ECM......Police and Pleasure 08's now use magneticly encoded wheel bearings and the ABS unit now communicates with the ECM.

Because of liability issues...I doubt if a dealer will sell you individual parts for a build and even if they did...I think MOCO requires VIN numbers before they will deliver parts to the dealer.

AT any rate you would need access to a Digital Technician and only the dealers have them.
