It would depend on which cams you used etc. It should cost you about 300.00 Labor at a Indy shop. When you have new cam's installed have torrington cam bearings installed in the chest.

to install the torrington bearing do you have to change the cam plate?

Reading this thread I found to be confusing. The 07-08 Stock cam plate does not have any ball bearings at all. The new screaming eagle cam plate gives you the ability to use the new high flow oil pump found in the 07-08 stock bikes while retaining the ball bearings found on the pre 2007 cam plates. This is a significant upgrade over stock no matter how you look at it.

Cars and import bikes have been using "plain bearing technology" for years. This isnt something HD just came up with decided to test on all of us! V-Rods use it for thier cams also, spin to 9000 RPM's. Never seen a problem in those motors that wasnt caused by the guy that built it!

Theres two versions of the 07 and up style cam plate. The SE plate is adirect replacement for the stock 07 cam plate, it is just made of billet and more heavy duty than the stock issue. I am running that in my 120. You can "create a conversion kit that includes the billet or stock 07 cam plate and 07 style higher flow oil pump for pre 07 bikes. There are NO ball bearings in the cam plate itself, it is a "bushing" that the nose of the cam runs in. There are two ways to use the new plate in the older bikes. One is to replace the bearings in the case with 07 style and size bearings and then you can run most any cam you wish, other is to go with an Andrews "N" style cam that works in the pre 07 case inner bearings and has the nose of the cam machined to fit in the new style cam plate and uses the new style roller chain and tensioners. Andrews DOES NOT make a cam plate. What they advertise is a conversion using the new style cam plate which you can upgrade to the SE Billet cam plate..

Very well explained Dalton. Following in both Dalton's and PhilM's builds, I too used the SE Cam Plate in my new motor. Great part to upgradewith but add's a few dollars to the cost of cam upgrades. When changing cams, adding a gear drive kit, and a billet cam plate, you can quickly exceed the 1K mark in a hurry.
