1/4 of a tank ?????
I have noticed that the fuel gauge on my new RCseems to be a piece of crap.
Today mine said 1/4 full and when I put gas in it took 4.45 gallons to fill it, as far as I can tell this means I had 1 quart of gas left and the low gas light has never come on.
I've notice this several times but this is the worst it's been so far; before 1/4 full ment I was putting 4.25 gallons which still isn't right.
1/4 full should mean that I have 1 1/4 gallons left.
The gauge never seems to go past the 1/4 full mark.
I'm thinking about make an appointment at the dealer to have it looked at.
When your gauge hits 1/4 full does it mean you need 1 1/4 gallons or 1 quart??
Just need to know if this is abnormal for this bike. What does your's do??

Dido! Never trust the gauge, my wife ran out of fuel on her 07 SG when the gauge showed 1/4 tank, I told her not to trust the gauge but of course she didn't listen, so I made her push it to the gas station.(Lucky it was only two blocks)She'sused the odometer ever since.

I don't trust mine. After 3 or 4 fillups and checking the odometer you can pretty much tell when it's time to top off. On the average, I start to think about filling mineup when I hit about 180 miles - at that point it will takeanywhere between4.25 to 4.75 gal. to top it off.

Once agian we have a yuppie only quiestion. I would think that anyone who rides would know you use your odometer to keep track of fuel. If I was to use my gauge on my eletra glide I would be pushing it alot.If you really need a gas gauge then you need to stay in you cage.

Yep, the fuel gauge is a worthless decoration. My RKC has dual trip odometers and Trip A is always reset when I fuel up. I start thinking about fuel at 160 miles. Run out of gas somewhere like the road between Clayton and Springer, NM in the summer timeand the buzzards will pick your carcass clean.

Mine is consistant, but by that I mean that 1/4 tank means I'll be pushing it in another 15 miles or so. I've had the fuel light come on and rode it 12 miles or so and had the bike take 5.26 gallons!!!!!
There must have been like a THIMBLE full of gas on that particular instance.
Know your avg MPG's and use the trip odometer to know when you're nearing empty. This will be more reliable. The gauge is approx only at best.
I've never run out of gas yet but wowI was close a couple times.
