I almost dropped mine on the wet lawn last spring... Left foot down, kept hold of the handlebars, pulled it back up. Little bit of grass and mud on the highway peg.
gezus gunny, did you them go back inside and practice for the olympic weight team? I think I'd rip n two like a turkey wishbone if I tried that....

Been there, done that when I had my Nightrain.....it's amazing how much of an adrenaline rush you can get when you see your baby's about to smack the ground.Happened in my garage,it was a little more than halfway to the concrete,Iwent from shock to being pizzzed enough to pull it back up in about a 1/1000 of a second...one more thing to be thankful for today....

Has anyone laid it down with out the rear crash bars???

My road king is toast if she goes down as I don't have crash bars at all, but I have lots and lots of insurance on her, as for the Road Glide I am wondering if it is worth it to add the rear crash bars or if the front crash bars will keep the bike off the bags.

My wife hated the ones on the King before I took them off, but now they have the comfort ones that don't look to bad.

If you scan thru the posts again (edit: posts #15 and 16) I think you'll see mention of scraped bags from those w/o the rear bars.
I added the rear bars early on (on my 05 RG) and was quite happy I had done so when mine dropped to it's side during maintenance recently. It was resting on the front bars and rear bars. If I'd not put the rear bars on it wouldhave been on the bag...

Thanks GDKenoyer, I saw the post about the bags getting scratched fromKRGS2K but he didn't say if he had rear bars or not so I thought I would ask about it.
