I road the Dragon with a buddy last month. The ride getting to the Dragon from Franklin on HWY ? 28 was every bit as fun, looking forward to going up there next year with my wife and riding it together.

Hwy 28 is also known as "The Hellbender". I like it as much as the Dragon.

Not yet but it will not be long. My wife loves the curves.
Here in NC we are only an hour or so from some good mountain riding and about 4 hrs from the coast.
The best of both worlds.

Happy Valley Roadis the "valley road" at the bottom of the Foothills Parkway where it comes down to the lake, a mile or so before the Dragon's Tail starts. I road all the way up Happy Valley Rd and found it actually goes back over the mountain to Townsen. Two scary switchbacks were a surprise to my buddy, glad he was in the lead.[:-]

In the southeast, the roads all around the Dragon are great rides. Two years ago I was riding through the area in North Carolina and was detoured 50 miles through a narrow mountain road with my Ultra. Needless to say I was glad to get out the other side and back on to a better road but what an experience!!

I have rode the Dragon about eight times. It's O.K. but a bit insane. My favorite road in that area is the Foothills Parkway which is at the end of the Dragon on Tennessee's side.It has slow, winding curves and you can maintain a higher speed than on the Dragon. Also, little to no law enforcement on the Foothills Parkway.
