Start a poll. It will be fun to see the result.

I had the IDS installed at the dealer with the $100 discount. I was not having serious issues with noise ot vibration. I got the IDS because it was a fairly inexpensive upgrade that everyone hear was raving about. I am very happy I had it done. My bike is even smoother now.

Take my advice, get it done. Buy the part cheap and have it installed when you have the tires done.

ok, so I'm getting ready to bring my 07 roadglide in for some new tires.

From reading this thread I'm thinking maybe I should have the IDS put on it. . What is the cost?????

I haven't had any problems and up until know I was going to pass on the IDS so I really haven't read all the IDS threads, I thought it sounded like an un needed expense. What is the verdict:::

To IDS or Not IDS - I guess I should have started on new thread as an IDS poll
If you are one of the lucky ones that has a smooth running 07, great. I still recommend the IDS, it will make a smoth bike even smoother. YOu can pick the IDS up through Zannotti's online for about $215 and install it yourself, or most dealers are now running a special and will install it for about $325 to $350.

Classic Triumphs have rubber cushes in their clutch hubs. Over time they harden (dry clutch), and start to squeak when you let out the clutch.

Harley never claimed that this is "new" technology. During the introduction at the dealer show, it was not even a huge feature. Only an upgrade to current design. As for Dalton, the so called new compensator design is the same as the old one except the spring pack is spot welded to the rotor. The parts even look the same. The design works like it always has. As for your claim of metric bikes never using compensators, most all those engines are couterbalanced. No need for compensators. Theirs are mounted to the rear wheel.

It cracks me up that Harley adds a piece to a new motorcycle to improve ride quality and we are the ones to call it new technology and whine about we shouldn't have to pay for it and how they put it on to cover their F-up. C'mon. Enjoy and Ride. Who will be the first to complain about next years improvements?

One IDS ordered from Zanotti's with bearing pressed $210.00. Local Indy installed $40.00. Total $250.00. I used my own Elbow grease and saved more money.

I didn't have a bike that would have been a complainer. But the over whelming positive response got my curiousity going. The Bike is smoother now, and I can use 6th gear under 70mph comfortably.

Definitely FIVE Stars...

FYI:

I own an '07 Ultra and had convinced myself it didn't need IDS, since I had the engine remap done to smooth out the toque curve. I read (and re-read) all the Pro and Con IDS stuff I could find.

Then I rented an '08 Ultra (same bike as mine just an '8) and immediately noticed how silky smooth the drivetrain was. Rode 850 miles on the '08 in 4 days, came home and got on my '07 and was surprised at how much more vibration and what a noticable difference there was.

So I ponied up $305 for the IDS at the local HD dealer of my choice and they covered installation under the "Elbow Grease" promotion. What a difference. I am glad I didit.

My advice, go for it.

Agree. I had no realcomplaints but did it anyway. Feels like a whole different bike now.
