Default Need Wrench Size

I’m installing a lowering kit and chrome fork sliders on my 05 Ultra today. I have some questions.

What is the wrench size for the fork cap bolt?
Is there any tools I need or can substitute for the ones in the service manual?
Any tricks you know that can help me? [/ol]

The fork cap bolts are on top of the fork. I think there over 1”. I’m at work and want to take the tools home with me. Anyone know the wrench size?

36MM is rear, from us 1/2 on lower and I beleive 3/4 on axle, also take the 7/16" drill bit, you will use that on the rebuild
also a inch and ft pound torque wrench

Nice, Thanks for the info. One more question. Can you get the fork cap bolts off without removing the inner fairing?

Do you have a service manual? If not I'd STRONGLY suggest getting one, but here is a "dated' thread on this topic.

Thanks UltraKla$$ic, The service manual is the first thing I buy when I get a new car or bike. I’m to cheap to pay someone else to do work for me. I’m still looking at eliminating the cartridge style left fork. Do you know what part I need? Is it worth it? Only HD has a lowering kit 1” and I’m putting 21” rim on and wanted to lower the front 1 ½”.

Mine are usually the size of a medium Cresent wrench but on occasion they fit the heavy duty vise in the garage.

Suspension work is so subjective I try not to comment on the subject for fear of steering somebody in the wrong direction, but be cautious in being too aggressive with lowering the front, as you "could" smash the fender on the chrome trim under the fairing by going too low. Also, you will be changing the geometry of the stance and could effect the ride to an undesirable level if attention is not paid to detail.
