RE: 08 Model Tuning
HAVE A NEW 08 EG CLASSIC AND HAVE JUST ADDED PREMIUM OIL COOLER, SE HI FLOW, SERT, AND RUSH PIPES. RUNS GREAT. STILL TRYING TO SORT OUT FUEL MILEAGE ISSUES. THINK HI END JUST TOO RICH. RUNS LIKE BAT OUT OF HELL THOUGH. AND RUNS WAAAAYYYY COOLER. 07 NIGHT TRAIN W/O OIL COOLER WOULD RUN 220-235 OIL TEMP. THIS ON HAS NEVER GONE OVER 205 ON THE HOTTEST DAY..NOW THAT IT IS COOLER IT RUNS 180-195. GOOD LUCK....

Change out your fluids to a GOOD SYN (like AMSOIL or MOBLE 1) and your done... And if ya need to you can always put on RJ's Orig. Heat Shields they look & work Great also!!

SeaRanger, you did not indicate that you were considering changing mufflers/exhaust, so if that's the case you might consider a K&N air filter insert in the stock housing and a Stage 1 Download. That would be a very low-cost option that would open the engine up a little. These two components will help the engine breathe better, maintain low sound levels, and cost less than $250.

RE: 08 Model Tuning
So how much air can the stock set up handle if we change the filter system?
Also how far can the fuel pack from V&H go to balance the system once we introduce all that air
800CFM sounds way too much for any stock set up....but what would I know.
Also regarding the blow by, what causes it, how to prevent it....and what about Ness and Woods...do those systems give problems like this or are they closed?
Please help me understand a little more!
Thanks

RE: 08 Model Tuning
So can someone please explain what is the use of having an air cleaner that can handle more than the SE at 287cfm??
Or are we suggesting buying for the future so that with a re bore and new cams etc....we dont have to buy a bigger filter later?
That seems a little overkill to me
Can someone explain the logic please

Well I have my idea but it's not anymore than that. The SE A/C is all you need if a pipe and a/c is all your doing. KN or Big Sucker will not make one bit of difference on hp or tq. Now maybe the quality is better with the other brands but performance gains are unlikely. If your doing head and cam upgrades then maybe, but everyone thinks the bigger the #'s the better. It's just hype, there is just no need to be thinking about 275 air flow with a N/A engine on the street. Just my .02
