Litteraly 90% of all people who own a road king change them. The easiest route is to switch to either the Road king Tall bars that harley offers or put on a set of Heritage softail Bars.
You're right, except for RK Cop Bikes. And why do cops not change their handle bars? Because they come stock with the Heritage bars! Go figure, the guys who ride all day DEMAND the Heritage bars from jump street.
Surely if 9 out of ten owners buy new bars MoCo must have that gem of a statistic somewhere in their vault. Is this a case of MoCo knowing we will pay more $ to be comfortable?
Sundowner seat, adjustable rider backrest when solo or the wife is my backrest when she's with me, 12.5" Wild One chubby apes. I'm 5'9" and this is comfortable for me.
I went first from the stock handlebars to Road King Custom's and now finally to the Fat Handlebar for Road King® Models. I like it very much, not high, wide enough, well relaxing together the with tall boy seat. I attended yesterday a motorcycle trainings course. Maneuvering the was excellent.
will 2010 roadking handle bars fit a 2005 roadking
Wow, nice thread revival! But, to answer your question, as far as I know, yes, 2010 bars would fit a 2005. I don't think the thickness or specs has changed on the bars at all.
I have an 05 FLHRI Road King ..... Which handlebar should I change to?
As posted, the RK High Bars will fit without spending the $$$ on cables and wires and are a great improvement over stock.
Also as others have notes, Wild1s Chubby- my personal choice- in 12.5"- are even better in the comfort depatrment. Chubby Apes will require new throttle cables, brake line, clutch cable. wire extensions. Im 5'7" and my hand height is right about the top of the sturnum with 12.5 Chubbie Apes.

I think it would. The ony concern is the brake lines and throttle / clutch cables, but the FLHRS extra wide beach bars help in that regard as they already have some long cables / lines. I put some pullback t-bars on my FLHRS when I had it with no issues, and I vaguely remember the bars you're asking about being specifically marketed to the FLHRS crowd as being more comfortable than the beach bars.
However, being a HD part, you should be able to ask your local dealer if they fit with no mods.
