Default RG Fairing Damage

Is road damage normal to the RG fairing? I've had numerous cracked windshields on my truck which makes me a little concerned about my RG. How many of you use the fairing bra or other protection?

I have not had much trouble in close to 100k miles.... but I suppose if you live by a rock plant, things could be different.

If you spend more time ridin' it than cleaningityou will get scratches. Did you buy the bike to say that you own a Harley or did you get it to ride? After the first one they don't hurt as much.

only garage queens have no rock chips

If you ride it on the road it will eventually get a chip, scuff, scratch.

I have had pebbles, acorns, small twigs, and bird crap hit my fairing and windshield. I have a few chips in my fairing.

I hear 3m clear bra best protection (usally put on high end car's front end)...... then I would say a good coat of wax.

I think that you will find those with the fairing bra have paint rub; you will get minorwind, dirt, and rock damage if you ride - just like a car; once you accept the fact that it will happen eventually, you will enjoy riding much more.

I have to agree!
I commute on my bike 90 miles a day. There is no way to avoid all ofthe crap that is on the freeways and all of the rock, sand, gravel that falls out of truck trailers.
To protect your bike, you would have to a "bra" on every surface.

Thanks Guys, trying to avoid that first scratch; it seems to hurt the worst. I've got 6K without one so I know it's coming. Hated it on all my trucks too.

Nice RG -

I think that chips hurt less if you learn how to properly repair them. It's not rocket science, you can learn it too from a good autopainter.

I fix my own and you would be hard - pressed to find them after repair.

Enjoy the bike!

Put the bra on to protect the fairing and saddlebag lids for the Az. summer.

My fairing mostly takes the bug hits, which can bake on if not removed.
On a road trip I use quick detailer on the fairing and windshield on every gas stop(150m).
The stone chips are more prone to the front area of the front fender.
A black bike is easy to touch up, a little base coat, build up with clear and buff.

I don't like seeing a bra. set those puppies free.
