Grinner,

Check out this on what a bearing is.
Everyone be careful -- I almost got hypnotized by the spinning bearing. Damn, eyes are still blurry. LOL.

If anyone is confused, maybe this will help:

In my 1999 Service Manual, under the "oiling system specification," the oil pressure is listed as "30-38 psi at 2000 rpm and normal operating temperature of 230F."

If it's chuggin, you are luggin'. Lugging is what beats up the bearing and destroys it. Oil pressure has nothing to do with it.

OK, I hear you guys regarding "lugging" and I understand....what I don't understand is 2000 rpm considered lugging. Now, I ain't got a bike yet but I've ridden many(non-Harley) and I think 2000 would be "mid range", especially with the displacement the Harleys have divided amongst two cylinders. What is a "stock" idle rpm? What would be considered "redline"? Just curious...learn me somethin'.....

Also, the lower the RPM the higher the torsional load is on the bearing. I freaked when I had to size some fan shaft bearings which ran 60 RPM. As the RPM increases the load on the bearings is dramatically reduced. More details can be found in any bearing sizing guides.
